What we keep

Infomercial keeps what it needs to work, and nothing else:

What stays on your phone

The reviews you have tuned in to and the news you have read are kept on the phone and never sent.

What we don't do

Apple keeps crash reports and usage figures of its own, and what it passes on to us depends on where you got the app. From the App Store, only if you have agreed in your phone's settings to share analytics with app developers, and then in a form that does not say who you are. From TestFlight, Apple sends us crash reports, how the build was used and any feedback you send, and may show us the name and email address you test under. Either way that is under Apple's terms, not this policy.

Who can see what

Your handle, your card and what you write are public: anybody using Infomercial can read them. Your pips for a show or a season show on your reviews of it; the list of everything you have rated is yours alone.

How far you have got is not public. It is readable by you, and by people in a watch party with you, for that party's show and no other. A friend, meaning somebody you have added who has added you back, can also see the one show you most recently moved on and how far into it you are, and the length of your streak. On a show's page, a friend can also see that you have watched it: started it, finished it or rated it. Not how far you are, and not when. Who you have added is between you and them.

Your photo's file can be fetched by anybody who has its exact address. The app gives that address only to people who can already see your handle.

Blocking somebody hides what each of you writes from the other, and they are not told.

Those rules are enforced by the database itself through row-level security, not by the app asking nicely. A bug in the app cannot leak where you are.

Where it lives

Accounts, data and photos are stored with Supabase, on servers in the United States (Oregon). If you use Infomercial from another country, what you put into it is sent there and kept there. Notifications are delivered by Apple. Artwork is loaded from The Movie Database's image servers and cast pictures from TVmaze's, which means each can see the IP address of a device asking for a picture. We send them nothing else, and they are never told who you are.

How long we keep it

For as long as you have an account, and no longer.

Deleting something you posted

Hold a post or a reply of yours down, then Delete. It asks once. A post goes with its replies and its likes, and with the rating its pips gave. A reply somebody has answered leaves the word "deleted" where it was, with none of your words and without your name, so the answers under it still make sense. A reply nobody answered just goes. A tier list and a phone-in answer cannot be deleted by themselves: deleting your account takes both.

Deleting your account

In the app: You, then Menu, then Delete account. It asks once. Your account goes with everything in it, permanently: your card and photo, what you wrote, your ratings, your progress, your friends and your place in any watch party. A party you started passes to whoever has been in it longest. A report you made about somebody else is kept, without your name on it.

If you can't get into the app, email owenbishop364@gmail.com and say the handle you want removed. To take Infomercial out of your Apple account as well, look under Sign in with Apple in your Apple Account settings.

Seeing or correcting what we hold

Much of what we keep about you is already on your own screen: your card, what you wrote, and where you are in each show. Wherever you live, you can ask for a copy of all of it, or for something wrong to be put right: email owenbishop364@gmail.com and say your handle. We may ask you to show the account is yours first. Deleting it is in the app, as above.

Children

Infomercial is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
